Solar Panels
Solar is the energy source of the future. Using clean energy from the sun, which never turns off or requires any maintenance, solar panels on your property can easily convert that energy to heat and electricity.
These days, more and more Victoria residents are jumping onto the solar energy bandwagon – and for good reason. Not only do solar panels bolster your energy independence and reduce your carbon footprint, they product a real return on investment.
In 10 to 15 years, building and homeowners will recoup the cost of the solar panels and installation, and begin saving big chunks of change on their energy bills. And with Victoria’s higher solar irradiance and the decreasing cost of solar panels, switching to solar has never been sweeter.
Solar Panel Installation
There’s never been a better time to switch to solar. Here in Victoria, our solar irradiance is stronger than many places on the Island, and the cost of switching to solar has been decreasing significantly for years.
Solar panels are the real deal – proven and reliable with demonstrated return on investment. If you’re ready to free yourself from the grid and the unpredictable bills every month, Lifecycle Roofing can help you make the switch to solar. We install solar panels around Victoria on homes, businesses, and larger facilities like office, government buildings, and recreation centres.
Solar Panel Repairs & Replacement
If you’re solar panels happen to break or require an upgrade, Lifecycle Roofing can help. The good news is solar panels are relatively low maintenance compared to other energy sources. With proper care and maintenance, your solar panels could easily last 25 years.
Regardless of whether we helped you with installation or not, we’re one call away, ready to repair or replace your solar panels. Plus, we’ll help you out with your annual inspection and solar panel cleaning.
BC Hydro Rebates
Did you know that BC Hydro offers major rebates for solar projects? As of July of 2024, you can save up to $10,000 on your project. The rebate is split into two segments.
Solar Panel Rebates
The first rebate is for the solar panels themselves. There is a maximum rebate of $5,000 available for solar photovoltaic (PV) panels installed on your home or business. Essentially, BC Hydro will award you $1,000 per kilowatt (kW) of installed generator capacity, with the total rebate capped at 50% of the total cost (which includes labour and materials).
Solar Battery Storage Rebates
The second piece of the BC Hydro rebate is for the battery storage, which allows you to store excess solar energy power your home during the nighttime, dark weather, or storms. You can even sell excess solar energy back to BC Hydro for a credit.
You can receive up to $5,000 on your battery storage system with a minimum storage size of 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh). The rebate works out to $500 per kWh of installed storage capacity, capped at 50% of the total cost of the product, installation, and materials.
Why Switch to Solar Power?
Solar power is time-tested and proven, with undeniable benefits and a guaranteed return on investment.
Clean Energy
Solar power is the cleanest energy source available. It’s completely renewable, and the greenest we’ve got.
Cost Savings
From month one, you’ll save on the cost of energy. Then in 10-15 years, you’ll start seeing real returns on your investment.
Home Value
When you install solar panels on your home, the value of your home will increase equal to the total of your investment overnight.
Freedom
The grid can be unreliable, plus energy costs typically move one way – up. By going solar, you can free yourself from the grid.
The Future
Slash your carbon footprint and contribute to a resilient community that doesn’t rely on the grid.
How Residential Solar Power Works
- First, we determine how much solar energy and how many solar panels your home requires.
- The all-powerful sun beats down on your newly installed solar panels, providing a nearly bottomless power source.
- With the help of converters, the solar energy will be turned from direct current (DC) to alternating current energy (AC), which your home can use for power.
- Live your life with heat, electricity, and everything else in your home.
- Check your BC Hydro Smart Meter, which will measure your energy usage along with the excess power your panels generated.
The Cost of Solar Power
The cost of installing solar panels relies on many different factors. No solar installation is the same. That’s because every building or home has different energy requirements and therefore a different number of solar panels. Plus, the property and roof in which installation is happening can impact the cost.
What we can say for sure about the cost of solar power is that it’s worth the price tag. Without fail, solar panels save people money on their monthly bill. The monthly savings will be significant, then in 10 to 15 years you’ll have made back the total you paid for installation.
Plus, did you know that BC Hydro will pay you for excess solar power? Any unused power can be pushed back onto the grid, prompting BC Hydro to credit your account. These savings can all be tracked on your BC Hydro Smart Meter.
