Roof Restoration
Roof Restoration vs. Replacement
If the roof of your home, building or facility is starting to show serious signs of wear and tear, you may be thinking about replacing it. Have you considered a restoration instead?
The main benefit of roof restoration is that it allows you to defer the necessity of replacing your roof, adding easily 10 to 15 years of life to your existing roof. And because the restoration process depends on less labour, less material, and less trips to the landfill, you can save 40-50% on a restored roof versus a complete replacement.
Roof restorations are designed to maintain, restore, and upgrade the performance of existing, aged, modified bitumen roof systems. The process involves adding a waterproofing layer to prevent any future leaks, plus a recoating will virtually eliminate the need for a roof replacement down the road, provided your roof is well-maintained.
For a commercial property, public building, or industrial facility, going for a roof replacement is even more worthwhile because daily operations and activities will not need to be disrupted.
Roof Restoration Options
MB Liquid Applied Coating
Restoring modified bitumen (MB) with a liquid applied coating is a quick restoration method that allows the roof to be fully waterproofed and ready to walk on in just 2 hours. This option is also low odour, which makes it a great option for sensitive facilities like hospitals, schools, and commercial buildings. This method also requires less products and labour, making it a lower cost method – it can even be done in sub-freezing temperatures!
Cold Flood & Gravel
The cold applied flood and gravel roof restoration method is unique because it’s extra safe compared to other methods. Fire hazards and noxious fumes are completely eliminated because there is no torch or kettle required. The multi-ply system used in cold flood and gravel restoration also adds an extra layer of strength, long term performance, and protection (especially against UV light) thanks to the final gravel layer.
MB Asphalt Coating
Coatings are an economical option for extending the life of your roof. These coatings are formulated as liquid waterproofers that can enhance the appearance of the roof while reflecting UV, protecting against harmful degradation. Special reflective aluminum coatings can also be applied to help keep your home cool and greatly reduce your energy costs.
Metal Coating
Coating can be applied to restore metal roofs and extend their life by preventing the oxidation of existing rust to metal. Installable in all temperatures, metal coatings are a low-labour option that’s applied as just one component with one application. There’s no risk of mixing errors, plus no need for primer.
